Virtual Reality in Learning- Use and Business Case

Overview

When it comes to emerging technologies, numerous tech companies including Facebook, HTC, Sony, Microsoft and Samsung are eyeing virtual reality (VR) as the next big thing.

While VR has been around for some time, a confluence of factors including lower costs and increased processing power is leading the way to rapid adoption by consumers. VR is predicted to grow from 2016 onwards.

While there are applications for VR in employee training including for healthcare and safety, adoption will be slower. VR is a precursor of the next generation technology that will open new delivery channels for Learning, that require a very different skill set to design and develop.

Have a first-hand look at Samsung VR as we cover the opportunities and potential for employee and customer learning

LearningCafe View

L&D needs to assess the adoption of Next Gen Tech and whether they should incorporate them as vehicles to deliver learning. Next Gen Tech require a higher cognitive and new design skills sets and L&D should work out how they intend to acquire these skills i.e. hire or outsource.

Regardless of the approach adopted L&D should get know Next Gen Tech better and get some hands on experience.
